Roof Guardrail System

Introduction

Alvin Freestand is a permanent, self supporting guardrail system that sits on flat roofs. It does not require physical fixing through the roof surface. Stability is provided by cantilevered concrete counter balance weights.

Incorporating the Industrial strength "Key" Clamps, and aesthetic lines of steel tubing, all of which are fully rust proofed and galvanised. Specifically designed concrete bases to BS 5911 provide the all important post supports and counter balances. Their design provides a large area of contact avoiding high point loadings to the roof surface and their composition makes them resistant to ice and frost damage. They are specified in place of steel to avoid the problems of heat transfer to the roof surface which would cause damage to the roof membrane in the warmer summer months. Freestand performs in excess of Health & Safety Specialists Inspectors Report No. 15 and HSG (33) Safety in Roofwork. It will be designed to comply with Wind Loadings to BS 6399 : Part 2 : 1995.

Applicaton

Freestand will provide a safe working environment for personnel who are frequenting flat roof areas, maintaining equipment such as air conditioning units, water tanks and aerials etc. Freestand can be installed around the complete roof perimeter or just as a guide rail directly to a specific area or piece of equipment. Once installed a permanent safe working area is constructed. Freestand requires no maintenance as its fully rust proofed and galvanised finish will provide many years of trouble free use. A powder coated finish is also available. The system can be dismantled at a later date should any maintenance be required to the roof surface, or indeed left in position while the repairs are carried out.
